— Backstory.

> Within the shard of The First, in the region of Norvrandt, lies the deep evergreen forest of The Rak'tika Greatwood. This lush landscape is a home to nature of all kinds, one of which is the Viera, a race of woodland protectors.> However, like so many others, this protected land would be forever changed when The Flood began, eradicating night from all corners of the region and ushering in an age of eternal light. Being a solitary group the Viera ensured to protect their home at all costs from the all but certain dangers that will follow, but even in such tumultuous times love can still be found, as two partners within the Viera village brought onto this world their own rays of light.> Born two years apart, the siblings were given the names Lucien and Lyric, symbolizing the joy that their parents wished for them to create together._

— Lost Family.

> This small moment of peace was all but fleeting as a barrage of Sin Eaters attacked the Viera village. While ultimately they emerged victorious, this first battle with an unfamiliar enemy that none had seen before cost the Viera many casualties and cost the newly born siblings the parents they never truly knew.> For the next eight years, the pair were raised by the females within the village who never once mentioned their father or mother to them and while they were well taken care of, the eldest Lucien couldn’t help but feel disconnected from the villagers, with scattered memories of his parents faces the young lad desired to meet his parents and learn of their fate.> With nothing but concerned glares, cold shoulders, and answers that eluded him, Lucien decided to take his younger brother and leave to seek his family himself.

— The Bargain.

> Days of navigating the Greatwood taught Lucien how frail the both of them were, however, he stubbornly pressed on until arriving at the island of Kholusia. Its almost vacant landscapes were disheartening for the boys who had become starved and sleep-deprived in their journey. Spending some time observing the locals they had come to learn of the settlement to the south known as Eulmore, hailed as the “city of pleasures”. Lucien saw this as an opportunity for shelter, desperate in his desire to save Lyric, the eldest waited for the chance to gain access within this safe haven.> Fortune smiled on them in the form of a finely dressed Elezen man known as Count Verandis, an envoy from Eulmore that provided the townsfolk with food and provisions as a means of garnering a solid reputation with the locals who begun to question Eulmores new rule.
Lucien approached the man, tugging on his arm and asking for help. The man paid no mind to them other than trying to dismiss them with food.> However, the eldest continued to ask questions that surprised the count, showing a much greater understanding than any eight-year-old should possess. In the end, Lucien proposed to strike a bargain with the man, if he took a pair of innocent and starved Viera children to Eulmore, not only would that provide a pure image for the citizens but his own standing would surely be improved. Impressed, the Elezen agreed on the condition that Lucien would be owned by him and he could use him in whatever way he saw fit. With few other options, the boy agreed and the siblings were taken in and became members of Eulmores society.

> The remaining early years of his youth was spent within Eulmore's pristine walls. Immediately Lucien was groomed to fit within the nobility, his new guardian teaching him not only proper etiquette but unique ways to deceive and twist the actions of others for one's own benefit.
When he was of appropriate age, the count sent him to work at The Beehive, Eulmore's strip club, a den for lords and ladies to indulge in their pleasures.> Trained as a dancer, Lucien found himself easily captivating the audience with his entrancing movements and natural beauty. The fourteen years the siblings had spent within Eulmore was far from ideal, however, Lucien superficially grown accustomed to their high end lifestyle, developing a taste for deception and seduction.

> Drastic change came once more for the siblings as a group of outsiders managed to topple and defeat the ruling mayor of Eulmore, Vauthry had been slain and killed. The nobility now divided, with those siding with the outsiders and those who protested to maintain the status quo, Count Verandis however fled Eulmore in fear of meeting the same fate as Vauthry, leaving the Viera siblings with no support to lean on once again.> History repeating itself, Lucien took Lyric in search of a new home, but as they stepped outside the walls, a bright light enveloped them both. When they awoke they found themselves in a forest-like city that neither of them had seen before, after searching the area and questioning the unfamiliar citizens, they were informed that they had arrived in Gridania, a city state on the lands of Eoreza.> With no one familiar to lean on and with no possible idea of how they arrived here, the pair agreed to look after each other and make a new life for themselves here. A life where only the two of them mattered.
